Increasing & Preserving Landmark Districts

Join us for our upcoming Beer & Culture event on June 23rd at the Georgetown Ballroom to talk about mechanisms to increase and preserve Historic and Cultural Landmark Districts in Seattle.  Many thanks to our panel which includes:

Allied Arts is and has been very passionate about this topic as it represents a significant part of our ongoing work for our Grow Gracefully Campaign.  Talking points include:

  • The importance of Historic Districts and whether we should increase the amount of designated Historic Districts in Seattle and how this might be accomplished when the architecture alone does not qualify the area for Landmark or Historic District

  • What avenues or approaches exist or should be created to make this possible

  • How scale and character buildings/areas are crucial to the fabric of a Lovable-Livable city

  • Explore tools and mechanisms other cities have used to address this topic

Event Location: Georgetown Ballroom — 5623 Airport Way South – Phone 206.763.4999

June 23, 2016 – Doors Open 6 PM, Panel starts at 7 PM

Through the Allied Arts Grow Gracefully Series, we hope to inspire the current burst of wealth, growth and creativity to enhance the vibrancy and uniqueness of Seattle. We are moving beyond the unproductive false choice of “preserving Seattle in amber” or “all density is good.” We know there is a middle ground where we can grow to accommodate our children and newcomers by building a City which delights, engages and welcomes all.

Many thanks to our event speakers and sponsors!
